The Woodloes Curriculum
Intent
At Woodloes Primary School, we aim to provide our children with a broad and balanced curriculum that offers a wide range of meaningful and memorable experiences. Our ambition is to inspire a love of learning, nurture life skills, and build confidence so that every child can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Implementation
At Woodloes, we believe it is important for children to make connections within their learning, to see how it relates to their local community and to understand its relevance in the wider world. Our curriculum is designed to be engaging and interactive, with plenty of opportunities for hands-on experiences that enable all learners to succeed and shine.
We use Cornerstones Maestro to support the planning, sequencing and delivery of our curriculum. This provides teachers with high-quality resources, clear progression and rich, knowledge-based projects that inspire curiosity and creativity across all subject areas.
We are proud to enrich our curriculum with experiences beyond the classroom. Every child has the opportunity to take part in Forest School sessions, intensive swimming lessons, enrichment days, and visits to places of local interest such as nature reserves, community spaces, and partner schools. We also value the role of parents, families, and community members, and regularly invite them into school to share in and celebrate our learning.
At Woodloes Primary School, we believe that music plays a vital role in every child’s education. A Music Action Plan helps us ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to experience high-quality music learning — whether through singing, playing instruments, composing, or performing.
This plan allows us to:
-
Build pupils’ confidence, creativity, and teamwork through regular musical experiences.
-
Ensure progression in musical skills and knowledge across all year groups.
-
Provide access to a diverse range of musical styles and traditions.
-
Strengthen links with our local community and performance opportunities.
By developing and following a Music Action Plan, we can make sure that music continues to be a joyful, inclusive, and inspiring part of school life for every child at Woodloes.
