Maths at Woodloes

At our school, we aim for all children to become confident, fluent and resilient mathematicians who can apply their learning to a range of problems and real-life situations.

Using the White Rose Maths approach, we deliver a mastery curriculum that ensures pupils:

  • Develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts
  • Build fluency through regular practice and repetition
  • Use reasoning to explain their thinking clearly
  • Become effective problem-solvers

Lessons are carefully sequenced so that new learning builds on prior knowledge, allowing pupils to make connections and progress at a secure pace. Concrete resources, pictorial representations and abstract methods (CPA approach) are used consistently to support understanding for all learners.

We ensure that maths learning is:

  • Inclusive, with appropriate support and challenge
  • Vocabulary-rich, enabling pupils to talk confidently about maths
  • Engaging and purposeful, showing how maths is used in the real world

By the time pupils leave our school, we want them to be mathematically curious, confident in their abilities, and well-prepared for the next stage of their education.
