Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At our school, we are unwavering in our commitment to providing an appropriate and high-quality education to all children residing in our local area. We firmly believe that all children, including those identified as having special educational needs (SEN), hold a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. This curriculum must be accessible, ensuring that every child is fully included in all facets of school life.

We understand that pupils learn at different rates and that myriad factors can influence their achievement. These include, but are not limited to, individual ability, emotional state, age, maturity, and socio-economic background. It is vital to acknowledge that many pupils may, at various times throughout their academic careers, encounter difficulties that can impede their learning. We recognise that these challenges may be either short or long-term in nature and that responsive strategies must be in place to support all learners effectively.

To facilitate a structured and supportive approach to addressing the diverse needs of our pupils, we have appointed a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo), Mrs Lambert. In collaboration with both the teaching staff and the parents or carers of our students, Mrs Lambert plays a crucial role in identifying any special educational needs at the earliest opportunity. Her proactive approach ensures that appropriate measures are implemented swiftly to cater to these needs, allowing every child the opportunity to realise their full potential.

The process of identifying and supporting pupils with special educational needs is a collaborative effort, involving close communication between staff, parents, and external agencies when necessary. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that not only promotes academic success but also nurtures the social and emotional well-being of all our students. This holistic approach is critical in ensuring that barriers to learning are effectively addressed, enabling every child to thrive within our school community.

Furthermore, we believe that parental involvement is instrumental in the success of our provision. We encourage parents and carers to engage actively with the school through discussions regarding their child’s educational progress and any challenges they may face. We are dedicated to fostering a partnership between home and school, which we believe enhances the support framework available to our students with special educational needs.

In addition to our SENDCo, we offer a range of resources and interventions tailored to meet the specific needs of our pupils. This may include differentiated teaching strategies, targeted support programmes, and access to specialist services, thereby ensuring that all learners are equipped with the tools necessary to succeed academically and socially.

Parents and carers seeking further information are welcome to contact Mrs Lambert directly via the School Office at 01926 497491. We also invite them to request a full copy of our Special Educational Needs Policy, which is readily available at the school office. This policy outlines our provision in greater detail and serves to reinforce our commitment to supporting pupils with special educational needs.

In conclusion, our school firmly believes in the value of an inclusive education system. By recognising and addressing the individual needs of all children, we are committed to nurturing a learning environment that empowers every student to reach their full potential, thus preparing them for a successful future both in school and beyond.
