Reception Intake September 2026
Welcome to our new Reception families — we’re really looking forward to welcoming you into the Woodloes community.
Starting school is a big step, and we want the transition to feel calm, positive and exciting for both you and your child. To help you get to know the team and feel confident about Reception, we offer the following transition activities.
Nursery visits
Our Reception staff visit children in their nursery or childcare setting to meet them in a familiar environment and to begin building relationships before they start school.
Parent information session
We invite parents and carers to an information evening (for grown-ups only). During this session we explain what Reception looks like at Woodloes, how children learn in the Early Years, and how we support children to settle, thrive and make progress.
Stay and Play sessions
Children are invited to attend Stay and Play sessions with their parent/carer. This gives your child the chance to explore the Reception environment, meet staff, and begin forming a happy, confident first impression of their new school.
Home visits
We also offer a home visit for each child. Visiting your child at home helps us to get to know them in a comfortable setting, supports a positive start to their relationship with school, and gives us shared “talking points” to help them settle in during the first few weeks.
Home visit appointments will be shared with you by email.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
