Saplings – Nursery (3+)

Welcome to Saplings, our Nursery provision for children aged 3 and over at Woodloes Primary School.

Saplings provides a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn, play, explore and grow in confidence. Our Early Years team supports every child as an individual, helping them develop independence, friendships, communication skills and a love of learning.

Learning at Saplings

Our provision follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with learning taking place through purposeful play, exploration, adult-led activities and child-led experiences.

Children benefit from a wide range of indoor and outdoor learning opportunities designed to support all seven areas of learning and development. Being part of Woodloes Primary School also enables children to become familiar with school life, supporting a positive and confident transition into Reception.

Sessions, Funding & Fees

Saplings offers morning, afternoon and full-day attendance options:

Morning Session
9:00am – 12:00pm
£16.80 per morning session

Afternoon Session
12:00pm – 3:00pm
£16.80 per afternoon session

Full Day
9:00am – 3:00pm
£33.60 per day (two sessions at £16.80 each)

Please note that £16.80 covers either one morning session OR one afternoon session. Children attending for the full day are booked for both sessions, giving a total daily session cost of £33.60.

Early Drop-Off
8:45am – 9:00am
£2.00 per session

Hot School Meal
£2.79 per meal

Children attending for a full day can either have a hot school meal at the current charge of £2.79 or follow the school's arrangements for packed lunches.

Funded Childcare

Eligible families can use their government-funded childcare entitlement towards sessions at Saplings. The number of funded hours available will depend on individual circumstances and current government eligibility requirements.

Funded hours can be used towards eligible booked sessions. Where attendance exceeds a child's funded entitlement, additional sessions are charged at the standard rate of £16.80 for a morning or afternoon session.

Parents and carers are responsible for providing any required eligibility information or codes and ensuring their eligibility is reconfirmed within the relevant government deadlines.

Joining Saplings

Children can join Saplings from age three, subject to availability and the applicable admission and funding arrangements.

Starting Nursery is an important milestone, and our team works closely with families to ensure children feel safe, happy and confident as they settle into Saplings and become part of the wider Woodloes community.

For information about current availability, funded places or applying for a Saplings place, please contact the school office.

Saplings is where your child's Woodloes journey begins – providing strong roots from which every child can grow.
